Neither FC Meralco Manila nor Stallion Laguna FC failed to find the back of the net as their match ended in a scoreless draw last Saturday 14 October at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Both teams were looking to bounce back after dropping points before the international break, but today’s game left the teams reeling with neither team scoring.
Stallion started the first half strong, but their attack fizzled out as the game went on after Ko Kyungjoon, Carlo Polli, and Jhan Jhan Meliza went close early in the second half.
It became a tight contest towards full-time. Chances from Nate Alquiros and Jinggoy Valmayor could have won it for either side, but it did not materialise.
Meralco remained in first place with 45 points while Stallion move a point up to 28 points.
Stallion coach Ernest Nierras hailed his team’s performance especially on negating the threat produced by Tyler Matas.
“It was a well-played game from both sides.” said Stallion coach Ernest Nierras “We also addressed the long throws of Tyler Matas and their corners.”
Meralco coach Aris Caslib would have wanted the three points, and admitted that his team must improve on their performance heading to the tail-end of the season
“We wanted three points so this is a setback for us,” said Caslib. “Everyone in the organization knows where we are so we all really need to step up.”
