Stallion FC coach Ernie Nierras was fuming after his side wasted a two-goal half-time lead over Green Archers United last Saturday at Rizal Memorial Stadium. The match ultimately ended in a 3-all draw.
Stallion were already up 3-1 in the first half with goals from Milan Arends, Fitch Arboleda, and Jordan Mintah. The Archers pulled one back at the half thru a Robert Lopez-Mendy penalty. Jhan Jhan Melliza and Lopez Mendy added two more goals in the second half to force the draw.
“I can be up 10-0 and I know (Archers) will come back,” said Nierras in an invective-laden tirade after the match. “I warned my team that they’ll come back and that they must be f—-ing ready.”
Nierras lamented his team’s performance particularly in the second half, when Melliza and Lopez-Mendy shocked Stallion with two goals within five minutes.
“We stopped playing in the second half and I don’t know why,” added Nierras. “We wasted chances, open shots, looking for penalties instead of putting the f—ing ball into the net.”
The Stallion coach went on to say that his players “need to figure out how to win.”
“Unless they figure out how to be winners, they’re going to be losers,” said the exasperated Nierras. “I’m completely disappointed. They’re f—ing losers plain and simple.”
Next for Stallion FC is third-placed Kaya FC on Sunday, July 26.
